Hi, I’m Andrea Tait
Drawing and painting have been my lifelong passion. I continue with projects to illustrate the light within the dark of all things. The human figure, the portrait, the simple beauty of nature back to its very beginnings, magic, mayhem, have all informed my delving into the creative process.
In addition to a several-decades-long studio practice, Andrea Tait has taught every level of student from at-risk youth to octogenarian. Andrea’s work has been represented by galleries in her home province of Saskatchewan and exhibited in both group and solo exhibitions in central and Western Canada. She has spent years in the extraction, preparation and illustration of fossil bone and other scientific drawings, published and presented by The Canadian Journal of Earth Science. The most recent series is called “Fiat Lux” the representation of the Geological Timescale from the Big Bang to our epoch, the ‘Holocene’ with the addition of the artists’ postulation on the yet-to-be-officially recognized ‘Anthropocene’; ” Let there be light” shone upon the mysteries of the vulnerability of our existence as a species, our human story.
Andrea lives with her artist, blacksmith, and building partner in the 1919 Katepwe Schoolhouse nestled by the Qu’Appelle River in Saskatchewan.
